Leiden Asia Centre

The Leiden Asia Centre is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to generating knowledge on contemporary Asian issues with practical relevance for the Netherlands, Europe, and Asia. Going beyond academic research, it actively engages societal partners such as government institutions, businesses, NGOs, think tanks, and the media to address concrete societal needs.
Based in Leiden (one of Europe’s leading hubs for Asian Studies and International Studies) the Centre benefits from close ties to Leiden University’s extensive academic expertise and its exceptional Asian Library. Research is conducted by independent scholars and experts and is closely aligned with societal demands identified in dialogue with partners.
The Centre disseminates its knowledge through lectures, public forums, and training courses, aiming to strengthen public understanding of Asia while fostering meaningful engagement between Dutch and European policymakers and Asian societies.
