Edward M Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention

Edward M Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention

The Edward M Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention was established in 2012, and honours the late Senator Edward M Kennedy for his lifelong commitment to justice, equality, human rights, education for all and environmental protection and in particular for his contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process. The Institute is university based at Maynooth University, and has a high level of engagement with the wider community, including key practitioners and organisations active in the practice of conflict intervention. It contributes to relevant policy debates taking its lead from the voices at the heart of the conflict. It also works with others to build on and strengthen Ireland’s international reputation and expertise as peacemaker, mediator and facilitator for positive conflict engagement, social regeneration and restorative practices.

The Institute teaches conflict intervention theory and practice, including mediation, peace building and restorative practice to all those with an interest in deepening their knowledge. Through Certificate, Diploma and Masters programmes it offers a blend of the latest theoretical thinking with highly interactive and experiential learning delivered by Irish and International experts in the field.
