Norsar

Norsar (Norway)

NORSAR is an internationally recognised research foundation based at Kjeller in Norway. NORSAR is independent of government, but was designated as the Norwegian national data centre for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) by the Norwegian parliament in 1999. In support of the CTBT and wider goals of nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, NORSAR operates the Norwegian contribution to the CTBT International Monitoring System (IMS). NORSAR is also involved in research and policy processes on nuclear disarmament verification. This engagement involves participation in the Quad Nuclear Verification Partnership and International Partnership for Nuclear Disarmament Verification (IPNDV). NORSAR will also increasingly be engaged in policy analysis in the broader area of nuclear arms control, strategy, and disarmament, with projects on the evolution of the struggle to ban nuclear testing and the bureaucratic politics of nuclear strategy-making.
