The Task Force on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation has been established by the arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation experts of the former Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. The experts (listed below) carry on their related research and lecturing at different universities, the training of graduate and PhD students in the field and pursue joint research as well. They are widely publishing and participating in different projects both in the Hungarian and the international context.

Professor at the National University of Public Service

Arabist and Iranist, with a PhD in International Relations (nuclear non-proliferation). She is a Professor at the National University of Public Service, Budapest, and has been a guest lecturer at several other universities both in Hungary and abroad, lecturing – among others – on arms control and non-proliferation. Parallelly, 1990-2016 a Senior Research Fellow at the former Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, since 2016 a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of World Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Zoltán Gálik

Zoltán Gálik is an Associate Professor at the Institute for International Studies, Corvinus University of Budapest, and a former senior research fellow at the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Relations (2002-2014). He is specialized in European Union Affairs, Security Studies and the foreign policy of the United Kingdom. He earned a Ph.D. degree in International Relations from Corvinus University of Budapest in 2007, the thesis focused on the theoretaical ascpects of the European Security and Defence policy.

Anna Péczeli

Dr. Anna Péczeli is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She is also an affiliate at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at Stanford University, and an adjunct fellow at the Centre for Strategic and Defence Studies (CSDS) at the National University of Public Service in Budapest, Hungary. Prior to joining LLNL, she worked at Stanford University: in 2018-2019 she was a visiting postdoctoral research scholar at The Europe Center (TEC), and in 2016-2017 she was a Stanton nuclear security fellow at CISAC. In Hungary, she was a senior research fellow at CSDS, an assistant lecturer at Corvinus University of Budapest, and an adjunct fellow at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. She earned a PhD degree in International Relations from Corvinus University of Budapest. During her PhD studies, she held a visiting research fellowship at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, and a visiting Fulbright fellowship at the Nuclear Information Project of the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) in Washington, DC.

András Rácz

Historian, political scientist and specialist on Russia-affairs. He defended his Ph.D. in Modern History in 2008 at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. 2007-2014 he worked at the former Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, as well as at the Center for Strategic and Defense Studies. In 2014-2016 he was Senior Research Fellow of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs in Helsinki. Since 2019 he has been first senior research fellow, thereafter associate fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) in Berlin, Germany, covering Russia and the post-Soviet region.
