Nigeria is the new HCoC Chair for 2022-2023

30-31 May 2022

On May 30-31, Ambassador Ainchil from Argentina officially handed over the Chairmanship of The Hague Code of Conduct to Nigeria during the 21st Annual Regular Meeting of subscribing states in Vienna. Ambassador Suleiman Dauda Umar will lead the effort for the universalisation of the Code during this coming year.

During the 21st Annual Regular Meeting, the EU made a statement where it emphasised the “grave threat to regional and international peace and security” posed by the North Korean ballistic programme and denounced the use of ballistic missiles in the Middle East.

In this context, the EU assessed that the universalisation of the Code is a key objective. The EU recalled its activities in the field and especially announced the event marking the 20th anniversary of the Code organised by FRS with the support of the EU, the Netherlands and France on the next day.
