Department of Public Administration and Sociology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam is world-leading research institution in public policy and public administration. This research focuses on several themes, from broad theoretical and methodological angles. The department places great attention on the societal relevance of the research undertaken within the department. Research foci include global and European governance. The research addresses also major themes of international security, including the politics of nuclear weapons, nuclear disarmament, military applications of the AI and the public opinion on international security.

Prof. Dr. Michal Onderco

Michal Onderco is Professor of International Relations at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

He is author of Networked Nonproliferation (Stanford University Press, 2022) and  Iran’s nuclear program and the Global South (Palgrave, 2015).

Previously, he was a visiting researcher at Waseda Institute for Advanced Studies (2022-2023), Junior Faculty Fellow at Stanford’s Center for International Security and Cooperation (2018-2019), Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute (2014-2015), and a Fulbright Visiting Researcher at Columbia University (2012-2013). He received his PhD in social sciences from Free University Amsterdam.

Mr Mahmoud Javadi

 Mahmoud Javadi serves as an AI Governance Junior Researcher at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in the Netherlands. In this capacity, he plays a role in the REMIT Horizon Europe Project, which is dedicated to revitalizing multilateral governance through technological advancements. Before assuming his present position, Mahmoud was associated with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he conducted research on the policies of the European Union in the Middle East and North Africa. His academic background includes a Master of Arts in transnational governance from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy.
