The Guido Carli Free International University for Social Studies

LUISS – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli – is an independent university. It was created out of a pre-existing Roman institution, Pro Deo, between 1974 and 1978.

LUISS offers an innovative educational approach at its four Departments: Economics and Finance, Business and Management, Law, and Political Science. Its goal is not simply to convey knowledge but to instill flexibility in young people, giving them a sense of mastery over their future.

Furthermore, LUISS has four Schools for graduate and professional studies: the LUISS Business School, the School of Government, the School of Law, and the School of European Political Economy.

The LUISS Career Services Office provides students with multiple opportunities to meet people in the business world and learn with them. This orientation and educational service facilitate the placement of degree candidates and new graduates in the business world with internships and training at companies and at public and private institutions. It also sets up recurring meetings and presentations with major multinationals, investment banks, and public and private organizations and institutions.

Prof. Raffaele Marchetti Professor in charge of the internship programme Department of Political Science – LUISS University Viale Romania, 32 – 00197 Roma (Italy) rmarchetti@luiss.it	Raffaele Marchetti (Laurea, Rome-La Sapienza; PhD, London-LSE) is associate professor (national qualification as full professor) in International Relations at the Department of Political Science and the School of Government of LUISS. His research interest concerns global politics and governance, transnational civil society, political risk, and democracy. He acts also as external expert for the European Commission and other public/private institutions on issues of global governance, public policies, civil society, and security. In the past, he was director of the FP6 Strep project SHUR. Human Rights in Conflicts: The Role of Civil Society and held a Jean Monnet European Module on EU’s Engagement with Civil Society, both funded by the European Commission. He was visiting/adjunct professor at American University of Rome-AUR, China Foreign Affairs University-CFAU-Beijing, London School of Economics-LSE, MGIMO-Moscow, Sciences Po-Paris, Strathmore University-Nairobi, Université de Geneve, University of Naples L’Orientale, and Waseda-Tokyo. Dr. Roberta Mulas Researcher supporting the project Department of Political Science – LUISS University Viale Romania, 32 – 00197 Roma (Italy) robertamulas@ymail.com	Roberta Mulas is an Adjunct Professor of Conflict and Peace-Building at LUISS University and a consultant for the office for diplomatic affairs of the Italian Presidency of the Republic. She holds a PhD from the University of Warwick and LUISS University (Erasmus Mundus GEM PhD School). She gave lectures at Maastricht University and at the Center for Advanced Defence Studies of the Italian armed forces as well as participated in a host of diplomatic and academic conferences. She previously worked as a research assistant at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) and at the United Nations University – Institute for Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS). Prof. Natalino Ronzitti Emeritus Professor of International Law Department of Law – LUISS University Viale Pola 12, 00198 Roma (Italy) nronzitti@luiss.it	Natalino Ronzitti is Emeritus Professor of International Law at LUISS University (Rome) and an advisory expert for IAI. He has been Professor at LUISS University, the School of Public Administration, and University of Pisa as well as Director of the Anzillotti Institute of International Law at the University of Pisa. He has been a visiting Fellow and Scholar in Residence at numerous foreign universities, including in the United Kingdom and the United States. He was “Professeur invité” at the University of Paris II, and has often been a guest professor at the Alexandria University in Egypt. He has participated in conferences at numerous foreign universities and institutes (in Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Latvia, Poland, Russia Federation, U.K., USA), and given a course at the Hague Academy of International Law. He has been an advisor to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of Defence, and a legal advisor to the Italian Mission to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. His professional experience includes the participation to several diplomatic conferences as member of the Italian delegation. Several times heard as international expert before the Foreign Committee of the Italian Parliament. Author, editor and co-editor of numerous volumes and articles on International law, International Humanitarian Law, Law of international institutions, EC Law, Law of the Sea.
