International Security Forum

ISF (CY) (Cyprus)

The International Security Forum is a non-profit independent global think tank established in 2009. It is headquartered in Lefkosia, registered with the Republic of Cyprus and the European Commission Authentication Service ECAS (2014).
The ISF focuses its research and publication work on European, Eastern Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and North African security and governance issues. It is particularly concerned with ridding the world from Weapons of Mass Destruction. Thus denuclearization and non-proliferation studies form a central part of our mission. The ISF shares the vision of a Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Zone Middle East (WMDFZME) endorsed by the European Council.
Since the kick off meeting of May 2011 in Brussels, the ISF takes part regularly in the deliberations and consultations held by the EU Non-Proliferation Consortium.
As a Cypriot independent think tank, the ISF is committed to addressing the illegal and ongoing Turkish military occupation of the island’s northern third of its territory, which is the world’s most heavily militarized region. In addition, in view of Brexit, the ISF conducts in depth studies on the status, use, and role of the British Bases and other military installations retained by the UK on the island. As the EU’s south easternmost member state and the gateway to the turbulent MENA region, Cyprus forms an ipso facto pillar of the European security architecture. Our working papers and policy oriented research assesses the realization of this prospect.
